Work Groups
The PSC created four work groups to oversee the implementation of Guided Pathways at Fullerton College. They include:
Work Group #1: Creating the Path
This work group is focused on defining the Hornet Pathways we will use to organize our over 200 academic programs on campus. Work Group #1 is also responsible for working with our academic programs to create clear two and three year curriculum maps. This work group is led by:
- Ana Tovar (Counseling)
- Marwin Luminarias (Curriculum Specialist)
- Martha Payan-Hernandez (Career and Technical Education)
- Kim Vandervort (English)
Work Group #2: Becoming a Hornet
This work group is focused on helping prospective students become Hornets. This group is focused on improving the student experience from the first moment they think about coming to Fullerton College until their first day of class. For example, this work group is looking at campus outreach, the application process, financial aid, and registration. This work group is led by:
- Rolando Sanabria (Counseling)
- Melissa Serrato (Campus Communications)
- Deniz Fierro (Promise)
Work Group #3: Keeping Hornets on the Path
This work group is focused on helping students successfully complete their academic programs as efficiently as possible. For example, this work group is looking at Banner updates, early alert, student information management software, degree check, the first year experience, and guided exit. This work group is led by:
- Miguel Powers (English)
- Alexandria Rosales ( EOPS Counselor)
- Stephanie Rodriguez (Associated Students)
Work Group #4 Ensuring Learning
This work group is focused on ensuring that our faculty are given the best tools and training to ensure that high impact teaching practices are being used to increase student success. This work group is also focused on helping inform the campus discussion and rewrite of our institutional and program learning outcomes. This work group is led by:
- Jeanne Costello (English)
- Deanna Smedley (Counseling)
- Jennifer Merchant (Career Center)
Data Coaching
Data coaching plays a unique and vital role in improving teaching and learning and helping the College achieve its mission through the process of collaborative inquiry – a professional learning approach where members of a cross functional team express and test hypotheses and plan evidence-based thoughtful actions aimed at improving practices.
Data coaching is also considered to be an essential component of the Guided Pathways framework as a strategy for building data literacy needed for redesigning systems, processes, and practices around the student experience and for building capacity of student teams to access and use data. As an iterative process, data coaching supports implementation of the Guided Pathways framework at different stages of inquiry, design, and implementation. This work is led by:
Gary Graves (Business)
JP Gonzalez (Counseling: Student Support Services)
Flor Huerta (Counseling: Counseling & Student Development)
Chad Willis (Fine Arts)
Danielle Fouquette (Humanities)
Anya Shyrokova (Library)
Nancy Ikeda (Mathematics)
Roman De Jesus (Natural Sciences)
Greg Aviles (Physical Education)
Matt Tribbe (Social Sciences)
Jay Seidel (Tech & Engineering)
